The "What we heard" slide
Updated July 11, 2026
When you pull a recorded call before building a proposal, the deck gains an extra slide that a pure quote-only build never gets: What we heard, eyebrow "What we heard", headline "Straight from the call." It's the moment the deck shows the client you were actually listening.
#When it appears
Any time a call was folded into the build, whether that's a priced proposal built from a real carrier quote with a call also pulled, or a discovery brief built from a call alone with no quote yet. Same slide, same content template, either way.
#What's on it
- A short summary of the call, one or two plain-English sentences.
- If coverage needs came up in the conversation, a "Coverage needs mentioned" list underneath the summary.
- A vault-match line. If the risk type from the call matches a class in your appetite guide, it shows a green checkmark with the matched class and the real markets you have on file for it, for example something like "✓ Looks like a Self storage risk. Real markets on file: Frontier E&S (Sam Cole)." If nothing matched yet, it says plainly that nothing in the vault matched this risk type yet.
- Up to three verbatim key quotes pulled from the call, shown as blockquotes.
- A next-step line, when the call surfaced one, prefixed "Next step:".
All of this comes from the structured call insights extracted after a call is analyzed: the summary, the coverage needs, the key quotes, and the next step, plus a separate vault-class match run against that same text. See Call insights, explained for the full field list and where else these insights surface.
#Editing it
Nothing about this slide is locked. Once the deck is built, edit the summary, the coverage-needs list, individual quotes, or the next-step line the same way you'd edit any other slide, directly on the canvas or through the matching fields in the outline editor. Both editors share one underlying data model, so a change made in either place is reflected the next time that slide renders.
