Coverage standards and preferred vendors
Updated July 11, 2026
Two more sections round out the Vault: Coverage standards, the rules your agency holds itself to, and Preferred vendors, the outside partners you route work to by default.
#Coverage standards
Coverage standards are shown as a running list of plain-English rules, not a table. Each one reads like a sentence an experienced producer would say out loud: when to offer something, when to require documentation, when not to bind at all.
The demo vault for Summit Commercial Insurance includes standards like always offering a $1M umbrella on LRO and self storage risks, quoting flood whenever the building value passes $1,000,000, documenting the TRIA election on every surplus placement, and holding binding until recalled electrical panels are ruled out in writing. Those are fictional examples, meant to show the tone and shape a standard takes, not a real agency's actual rules.
Standards are meant to capture judgment that would otherwise live only in one producer's head, so it travels with every proposal built at your agency instead of just the ones that producer happens to touch.
Preview notePreview note: coverage standards inform the options step and can become candidates for the Recommendations slide, but the engine does not yet automatically check a parsed quote's fields against a standard and flag a violation on its own. Reading a standard, checking it against the quote, and deciding whether it applies is still a human step today. Automatic enforcement against parsed quote fields is on the roadmap.
#Preferred vendors
Preferred vendors are also shown as a list rather than a table: a vendor name paired with a short line on what they do. Think inspection companies, premium finance partners, roof reporting services, whoever your agency defaults to rather than shopping fresh every time.
If no vendors have been added yet, the section shows the empty-state note: No vendors yet. Drop in an SOP file or add one.
#Where these surface today
Neither section drives an automatic gate on a build the way the fee schedule or appetite guide do. Coverage standards feed the options step you see before a proposal finishes building, where flagged items can be checked to add them to the deck's Recommendations slide. Preferred vendors are a reference list for your own use inside the Vault; they do not yet get pulled onto a slide automatically. See The Recommendations slide for how a flagged standard becomes something the client actually sees, and The pre-build options step for where that choice happens.
