Add the current policy for a comparison

If you are quoting a renewal or trying to win a risk away from an incumbent carrier, drop the prospect's current policy PDF in alongside the carrier quote. ProClose builds a side-by-side comparison slide automatically.

#How to add it

There is one drop zone on the New proposal page, and it takes more than one file. Drop the carrier quote, then drop (or select) the current policy PDF the same way, or drop both at once. The drop zone copy tells you this directly:

#How the two files are told apart

ProClose tags each dropped file Carrier quote or Current policy in the file list below the drop zone, based on the filename. A file with "current," "policy," or "dec" anywhere in its name gets tagged Current policy. Anything else is tagged Carrier quote.

That tag is a starting guess, not the final word. When you click Build proposal, the engine reads the actual content of both documents and checks which one really looks like a quote (premium lines, a quote total, binding subjectivities) versus which really looks like an in-force policy. If the filenames and the content disagree, the content wins. A quote you named with "Policy" in the filename, or two files dropped in the wrong order, still build correctly.

#What it unlocks

With both documents loaded, the built deck gains a side-by-side comparison: current policy terms next to the proposed quote, line by line, with markers showing which side is better or worse on each line and a total verdict. Without a current policy, the deck still builds fine, it simply has no comparison slide since there is nothing to compare against.
