Premium and agency fees

Updated July 11, 2026

The Premium summary slide is where every dollar on the proposal gets itemized, and it exists so nothing gets left off the invoice by accident. Its headline: "Everything, with no surprises at the bottom."

#What's on the slide

One line per premium or fee item, each showing a label and an amount. Carrier premium lines come straight from what was parsed off the quote, for example a general liability premium line, a commercial property premium line, and any carrier-charged fees like a surplus lines tax or a stamping fee. Fee lines are visually flagged so they read differently from pure premium lines.

Below the itemized lines sits a total row labeled "Total amount due".

If the quote carried notes about earned premium or elections, they print verbatim underneath the total as the disclosure line.

#The agency fee is stamped automatically

This is the part worth understanding: your agency fee is not something you type in on every proposal. ProClose infers the program type from the parsed quote (surplus lines, admitted, or monoline auto), then looks up the matching row in your fee schedule in the Vault, and stamps that fee onto the premium lines as a real line item that gets summed into the total. If your fee schedule has no agency fee for that program type at all (a monoline auto line with "no agency fee" on file, for instance), no fee line gets added, on purpose. If nothing on your schedule matches the inferred program type, the app falls back to the first fee row on file that looks like a general agency fee, and if even that comes up empty, it stamps a placeholder amount so the line is never simply missing.

Below the premium block, the deck always prints this exact assurance line: "✅ Your policy fee and agency fee are added automatically. They never get left off."

Note

Note: The demo tenant's fee schedule (Surplus lines package, Admitted package, Monoline auto) with its example dollar amounts is exactly that, an example. Your fee schedule drives what actually gets stamped. Edit it on the Fee schedule page and every proposal built after that uses your new numbers.

#The disclosure line

When the carrier quote's own minimum-earned and binding language was parsed, it prints under the total, unedited. A representative example: "Minimum earned premium 25%. Policy fee and agency fee are fully earned at binding. Terrorism coverage (TRIA) available for an additional $535, client election required at binding." The TRIA sentence only appears when TRIA pricing was actually found on the quote. At minimum, whenever premium data exists, the deck states plainly that "Policy fee and agency fee are fully earned at binding."

#Editing a fee or premium line

You are not locked into what got parsed or stamped. Edit any premium or fee line directly on the canvas or in the outline editor, and the total recalculates immediately, along with the side-by-side comparison's verdict if one exists. See Edit fees and totals for exactly how that stays in lockstep.
